Last year, I had a great opportunity to take part in Fast and Furious 6 at Shepperton Studios. The project involved translations from Chinese to English, designed and produced graphics for print and by hand, as well as assisting the Art Department to decorate the set! Let's just say that by the end of the afternoon, I could stick vinyl print with water spray and a squidgey quite quickly! Never the less, it was amazing to see my artwork come to life and the set definitely reminded me of my other home Hong Kong.
Here are the featured graphics.

A year ago, this little lady came into my life. The first time I met her, she was only 6 days old and just fitted on my palm. Today she has grown into a proper lady, caught her first bird and taken up half my bed space. She is now a permenant fixture in my office and I love her so much. Happy Birthday Arabella.

Not often I get to have time to embark on any personal projects. Partly because spare time is a rare commodity in our household and partly because I am a nightmare client!
Few months ago, I bought a huge picture frame for my bedroom. It's been on the wall since I brought it home but it remained empty. I went through both mine and my husband's photo and graphic creations, but none of them were right.
So reluctantly, I gave myself a brief: I need it to be calming, symbolic, nothing TOO controversial. Something that gives a sense of unity, love, something that says something about me and my family...
Then one day, I came across some Chinese Paper Cut Art and the light bulb was on!
After a long search, I got all the elements I needed: Rabbits (Spring, Easter, Life), Pairs of Songbirds and Butterflies (Unity, romance and love), Chrysanthemum (Happyness and one of my favourite flowers). Chinese characters (from left to right) are as the translation on the top.
I know papercut style illustration is not exactly new but for me, this has the perfect mix of East and West, something that relates to me and my family. More importantly, it was DESIGNBYRINA for me. :)
